It’s said that the heart of the home is the kitchen, and the same goes for Buttercup’s. Family-style dining is an integral part of the day. We feel mealtimes should be a relaxed and social occasion. We have our own dining room within the farmhouse where the children take their meals around a large table, along with staff who help with social skills and table manners. This is a wonderful opportunity to chat about the morning’s activities and make plans for the afternoon. Buttercup’s offers a variety of home-cooked, well balanced meals, prepared daily by our wonderful cook, Lizzie. Children staying until late afternoon are offered a delicious tea with fresh homemade bread and a choice of fillings, followed by yoghurt, fruit and a homemade cake.
The children enjoy helping out in our vegetable garden and will present Lizzie with the things they have grown to include in her menu. Strawberries, runner beans, potatoes, carrots and pumpkins are just a few things they have enjoyed growing.
Healthy eating is an important part of life at Buttercups. Children are offered a fruit snack mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Children are offered milk or water at snack times and water is also available throughout the day.
