Rob is the owner of the nursery which was established in 1993. You will usually see him in his muddy wellies and is nicknamed Scallywag by the children! Rob has been a dairy farmer for over 40 years and currently has a herd of 180 cows. In his spare time he enjoys walking with his dog Betty and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Shirley joined the team in 2020 taking on the role of Manager. Shirley has a particular interest in incorporating a Hygge approach in the Early Years and has been instrumental in leading this approach within our setting.
In her spare time Shirley enjoys walking her dogs, reading and spending time with her family especially her two grandsons.

Sophie attended Buttercups when she was a child and returned as an Early Years Practitioner in 2014, taking on the role of Deputy Manager in 2017. Sophie is responsible for the day to day running of the office and is always on hand to answer any questions you may have. In her spare time Sophie enjoys going to the theatre, shopping and spending time with family and friends.

Jenny joined our team in 2019 and works with our 3 & 4 year old children. Jenny is the creative member of the team and can often be found with a paintbrush in hand. In her spare time jenny enjoys photography, singing with her band and finding new places to explore with her children.

Polly joined us in April 2012 and works with our 3 and 4 year old children. Polly holds a level 3 NVQ and is also our Forest School leader, gaining her Level 3 Forest School Leadership qualification in October 2018. You will usually find Polly in her wellies in our beautiful Forest School area which she helped design and create. When she is not in our Forest School Polly enjoys walking her dogs and spending time with family and friends.

Michelle joined us in November 2013 and works with our 3 and 4 year old children with Polly in the Forest School area. Michelle is passionate about outdoor learning and enjoys providing the children with the most amazing experiences. In her spare time Michelle enjoys cooking, music, going to festivals and enjoys caring for the animals we have at Buttercups.

Lois has been an important part of the Buttercups team since 2012 and took on the role of Nursery SENCo in September 2020. At Buttercups Lois works in our 2 year old area alongside Shelley. She also coordinates the support given to children with Special Educational Needs.
In her spare time Lois enjoys travelling and learning about new cultures and spending time with her family and friends.

Shelley joined the team in September 2018 and works alongside Lois with the 2 year olds. Shelley particularly enjoys outside learning and is always finding fun new activities to do with the children.
Shelley enjoys horse riding (Lucy our resident Pony belongs to Shelley and her daughter), countryside walks with her dog and spending time with her family in particular her two children.

Carrie joined the team in 2020 and is responsible for preparing our lovely home cooked lunches. In Carrie’s spare time she enjoys reading, watching films, and decorating cakes with sugar craft.

We believe in helping to foster the next generation of Early Years Practitioners. We work with a variety of colleges to offer placements.
We work closely with our local secondary schools to offer fully supervised placements every year.
We always welcome volunteers wishing to gain professional experience or to develop the confidence to take their next steps.
